Grenoble, a city in the historical Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France, sits at the foot of mountains between the Drac and Isère rivers.The city advertises itself as the "Capital of the Alps", due its size and its proximity to the mountains. The city is also renowned for its universities on the campus, for its scientific research centers in the northeast of the city, including Minatec for nanotechnologies and the Synchrotron for high-brilliance source of X-rays as well as for its industrial center in the western suburbs.
