Day 2 - Accra City Tour

Explore Accra’s Historic and Cultural Landmarks 

Accra City Tour 

Depart on a city tour of Accra, visiting the W.E.B DU Bois Centre for Pan African Studies, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and the National Museum. Drive through the International Conference Centre, State House, Parliament, James Town, Independence Square, Jubilee House, and Mokola Market. 

Lunch at Local Restaurant 

Have lunch in a local restaurant during the Accra city tour. 

Visit Arts Centre 

Visit the Arts Centre, which houses the Centre for National Culture in the Greater Accra region. It is a souvenir market with a large collection of arts, crafts, textiles, and other artifacts.

Day 3 - Accra to Cape Coast Castle Tour

Explore Cape Coast Castle and Honor Ancestors 

Cape Coast Castle Tour 

Morning departure after breakfast to the Cape Coast Castle, built by the British in 1665 and houses the West Africa Historical Museum. The castle is under UNESCO protection as one of the world's heritage monuments. Tour the castle and pour a libation for the ancestors at the door of no return.

Day 4 - Elmina Castle and Kakum National Park Tour

Experience Elmina Castle and Kakum Canopy Walk 

Elmina Castle Visit 

Morning visits the Elmina Castle, built by the Portuguese in 1482 and representing the first and largest European fortification along the Coast of Africa, under UNESCO protection as a world heritage monument. 

Kakum National Park Canopy Walk 

Afternoon departure to the Kakum National Park. An Evergreen Forest covering about 360km2 with trees reaching about 65 meters. It has animals including Elephants, bongos and primates with over 400 species of butterflies. Walk through the forest to learn the medicinal use of different species of plants and experience a canopy walkway.

Day 5 - Assin Manso and Kumasi Tour

Visit Slave River and Journey to Kumasi 

Assin Manso Slave River Visit 

Morning departure after breakfast to Asin Manso and visit the Slave River (Donkor Neu), where the slaves were forced to have their last bath on their Southern march to the coast for shipment. Visit the burial site of two former slaves whose remains were brought from the U.S and Jamaica during the first Emancipation Day celebration in August 1998. Libation will be poured for the souls of the departed. 

Transfer to Kumasi 

Afternoon departs for Kumasi.

Morning departs on a city tour of Kumasi, the capital of the Asante kingdom, by visiting the Manyika Palace of the Asante Monarch, built as compensation by the British in 1935 after the return of the Asante monarch Prempeh II from exile. The palace was used by other Monarchs before it was converted into a museum in 1998.

Morning departs to the Ashanti Craft villages of Ahwiaa noted for wood carving, Ashanti Stools and fertility dolls, the Adinkra Cloth Village of Ntonso and finally to Bonwire noted for the famous Kente Cloth. Continue for a naming ceremony in the village to be given a Ghanaian name.

Morning departs from Kumasi to the African Heritage Centre for FREE INDIGENOUS FOOD lunch, pay a courtesy call on the Chief and elders of the town together with Kofi, who is the Babahene (chief of all princes & princesses of the Town) accompanied by cultural performances. Tour the facility and go through a traditional naming ceremony to be given an African name and its meaning.
